On a recent trip to Egypt we learned of a relief organization called Refugee Egypt which assists Sudanese refugees displaced in Cairo. Recognized by the UN High Commission for Refugees, Refugee Egypt is an NGO which provides food, clothing, housing, healthcare, psychological counseling, and skill training for people in the greatest of need. Tukul Crafts is a self sustaining arm of Refugee Egypt designed to promote African culture while providing skill training and income for Sudanese refugees in Cairo. We fell in love with both the mission of the organization and the beauty of their hand crafted items. After returning to the states, we commissioned a large order of their handbags and a Mei Tai pattern we designed for our online store.
